Shadow Board FAQs
The questions Australian teams ask us most, answered by the people who design and build the boards.
Orders and pricing
Orders and pricing
How much does a custom shadow board cost?
Pricing depends on board size, material, tool count and holder type, so every project is quoted individually. Send us the details of what needs to be organised and any photographs or dimensions you have, and we will prepare a quote for the project.
What is the lead time for a shadow board?
Lead times depend on the project and are confirmed with each quote. Larger programs can be planned in stages around your operation. Discuss your timing requirements when you enquire.
Do you charge for the initial discussion?
The initial discussion of your requirements is free of charge. Quote terms and any design fees, where they apply, are confirmed with the quote itself.
Do you offer pricing for bulk or multi site orders?
Volume and multi site programs can be discussed. Pricing is confirmed per project once the scope is understood.
Design and materials
Design and materials
What materials are 5trak shadow boards made from?
Materials are selected for the environment where the board will be used and confirmed during the design discussion. Food production, workshop and outdoor environments can each call for different board surfaces, holders and hardware.
Can you build boards for odd or unusual tools?
Yes, that is our core work. Irregular tools are measured or photographed and receive custom cut outs or milled holders. We design around your real kit, not a catalogue of standard holes.
Can boards be colour coded?
Yes. Colour coding is standard for cleaning segregation in food plants and for 5S zone identification. We match your existing colour plan so the boards reinforce what your team already knows.
Can labels include barcodes and asset numbers?
We print engraved or printed labels with tool names, asset numbers, barcodes and calibration dates as required, matching your existing register format for traceability.
Installation and support
Installation and support
Do shadow boards come with mounting hardware?
Board fixing requirements depend on the format and surface. Mounting options and any installation arrangements for your location are confirmed at the specification stage.
Can boards be mounted on wheels or frames?
Yes. Mobile boards on locking castors suit shared tooling and field crews, and freestanding frames suit spaces where walls are unavailable or unsuitable. Specify mobile or fixed and we design accordingly.
What happens when our tool kit changes?
We keep your design on file. Replacement inserts, holders and labels are available as your kit evolves, so reorders are fast and the board grows with the team.
Do you ship to remote sites?
Yes, we ship Australia wide including remote and FIFO locations. Boards arrive complete with hardware and instructions, and we confirm freight to your postcode as part of the quote.
Food safety and compliance
Food safety and compliance
Are the boards food safe?
For food production environments, materials and hardware are discussed with reference to your site requirements. Confirm specific expectations early in the design discussion.
Can boards support HACCP or SQF audits?
A shadow board supports organisation and visible standards. Whether it supports a specific audit depends on your site compliance framework, so discuss the requirement before the design is finalised.
What is colour coded cleaning?
Colour coded cleaning assigns one colour per hygiene zone, for example red for raw areas and yellow for low risk. Equipment stays in its colour zone, which supports segregation where cross-contamination control is part of the site hygiene system.
